Salmon Burgers (Using Cooked or Canned Salmon)

Salmon burgers are a delicious way to change up the way you eat salmon. Use leftover salmon, or canned fish for this recipe. You can also switch out the bun to a leaf of lettuce and keep it super healthy, too!

Perfect for a light lunch, healthy dinner or even served without the bun for a get together where you won’t have to worry about gluten free diets, salmon burgers hit the spot.

This recipe uses cooked salmon (leftover, frozen or canned), so if you need a recipe using fresh salmon to make burgers, you can find that recipe at my friend Valentina’s site, Cooking on the Weekends.

Frozen Salmon Burgers

Don’t buy the frozen Costco salmon burgers for the simple reason of the ingredients that are in them. Have you read the label? You can’t even be sure of what type of salmon you’re eating, and the second ingredient is vegetable oil. 😣

My salmon burger recipe will allow you to use the salmon of your choice (fresh, frozen or canned) and avoid the vegetable oil entirely. Not to mention that I can assure you that your homemade fish sandwiches will taste so much better than the mass-produced version.

  1. To date, I have only made tuna burgers but used raw tuna. I like the idea of using cooked salmon. So often I will buy more than I need but cook it anyway and freeze for later… for these burgers, for example! Beautiful, Christina!
