Those of you who have been reading along will probably have realized by now that I am quite passionate (for lack of a better word) about my food.
Being Italian, pasta is a very common meal in our home, and as with all the ingredients I buy, I want to use only the best, when I can afford it. So if you’ve never heard of, or bought De Cecco pasta or products before, now is the time. I honestly do not buy any other brand, and it’s not expensive, so if you do buy pasta, you can afford to buy De Cecco. Think about it this way: the next time you pay $15 for a plate of pasta at a restaurant, which is probably about 3 oz worth, you are paying about $80 a pound for that pasta, as opposed to paying $2 to $3 a pound in the grocery store for top quality De Cecco. Of course that doesn’t take other ingredients, the chef, restaurant ambiance, etc. into consideration, but I think you realize the point I am trying to make.
This weekend I will be attending Camp Blogaway, which is a food blogging camp held in the mountains of Southern Calfornia, where about 100 bloggers converge to learn about all things food bloggers need to know. When thinking about a sponsor, it took me all of two seconds to think about asking the De Cecco company, because their company exceeds my expectations in every aspect I can think of! I was so happy when they agreed to sponsor me to go to camp and be their representative! I am so excited to be able to spread the word about my favorite pasta to other food bloggers, who will then tell their followers!
Did you know De Cecco is the only DNV certified pasta. The DNV is a Norway based certification company which Time magazine called “The Pasta Police.” De Cecco holds their standards high and continues making their pasta the way it has been made since 1886, not to earn some acceditation, but because it’s what they believe in.
De Cecco uses only the heart of premium wheat, mountain spring water (at the location of the factory), bronze dies and a very slow drying time, which preserves the quality of the wheat. However, the end result is the most important part, because De Cecco pasta just tastes so much better than any other pasta. It stays “al dente” and doesn’t fall apart, or stick when cooking, and you’ll notice your water won’t get cloudy and full of starch, so you get perfect pasta everytime!
