Much to the dismay and horror of my Italian born mother, I dislike figs.
So the fact that I have a bearing fig tree at the moment, and my mother, whose favorite fruit is figs, is not here to eat them, is rather a problem. My kids don’t like them either (which is apparently my fault, according to my mother).
I must say, I wish my kids and I did like figs because they are a super-fruit, full of so many health benefits! You can read about it here. However, where there’s a will, there’s a way, so I decided to “hide the figs” in a smoothie with other fruit I had on hand: raspberries and nectarines, and without any added sugar, it was so sweet and refreshing (and healthy!)
…but the best part was, no one could taste the figs…shhh…don’t tell my mother!

- 4 or 5 figs
